Welcome to

The CHAT Lab

We are committed to innovative research to advance understanding of the etiology and maintenance of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) comorbidity, particularly among survivors of physical and sexual assault. We implement a variety of methodological approaches, such as clinical laboratory methods and psychophysiological assessment, to evaluate models of PTSD-AUD risk.

Our ultimate goal is to inform prevention and intervention efforts to better support survivors of trauma. To that end, we have developed clinical research partnerships with community addiction providers, which facilitates our ability to conduct treatment-outcome research for PTSD-AUD, as well as provide trainings in empirically based treatment for PTSD in addiction settings.

We achieve these aims through dedication, collaboration, and mutual respect for each other and the communities we serve. We strive to exude compassion and empathy to promote healing and empowerment among trauma survivors, particularly in disadvantaged and underserved populations. Further, we aim to foster a supportive and inclusive environment, in which all lab members may thrive.
