Dr. Erin Berenz

 Principle Investigator

Dr. Berenz is an Associate Professor in the UIC Department of Psychology. Her research utilizes human laboratory and clinical intervention methodologies to understand risk for and recovery from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and common comorbidities, such as alcohol use disorder. Currently, we are evaluating a web-based intervention to improve maternal and infant health among pregnant women with PTSD.​

Shiva Edalatian Zakeri, M.A.
5th Year Graduate Student

Shiva holds her B.A. in Clinical Psychology and M.A. in General Psychology. She has prior experience in clinical research, psychological and diagnostic interviews, and attending supervised practicums. She is interested in studying the association between PTSD and alcohol consumption and potential mediators of this association, such as affective risk factors, in young adults. Shiva is enthusiastic to deepen her knowledge and experience by conducting research in the CHAT Lab, with the ultimate goal of helping individuals at risk.
